Tour Program:

Day 1
Lake Tsovakn Hyusiso (Childir), Igdir, Bayazet, Berkri Waterfall, Van.
From Yerevan we head for Gyumri, where we pass the Armenian-Georgian Crossing Border Bavra to enter Javakhk. Leaving Karzakh and crossing the Armenian-Turkish border, we head for Van. We go to Igdir, the birth-place of Drastamat Kanayan (Dro), the well-known political and military figure. Then, on the downhill of Mount Ararat, past Kharaba Bazar we drive to Bayazet. Along the way our eyes will rest upon the magnificent sight of Mount Ararat from the reverse side, while Bayazet will offer us the ancient fortress of Daroink. Then we visit the palace of Ishak-Pasha which is a fusion of the Persian, Arabian and Armenian architectural styles. From Bayazet we set out for the city of Van, breaking the journey at the waterfall of Berkri. We will spend the night at a lodge in Van.


Day 2
Varagavank, Doors of Mher, Van Fortress, House of Van Cats, Lake Van, Akhtamar Island, Holy Cross Cathedral (Surb Khach), Mush.
Next morning, we set out for the monastery complex Varagavank on mountain Varag, proceeding to the Doors of Mher – a gate carved in the rock, retaining the cuneiform inscriptions. Then we will see the Fortress of Van and House of Van Cats. Thence we set out for the Island of Akhtamar, to see the Church of the Holy Cross. On the way back we will have degustation to Vana Tarekh, the only species of fish inhabiting Lake Van. We will spend the night at a hotel in Mush.


Day 3
Old town of Mush, Sulukh Bridge, Diyarbekir, Mount Nemrut.
Next morning we set out for old town of Mush, to see the Old Armenian Quarter and the Armenian Graveyard, as well as St. Mary’s Church, the Historical Bridge of Sulukh, the death place of Gevorg Chaush, the War Hero of the Armenian Liberation movement. Leaving Mush, we shall pass the Mountains of Sasun towards Diarbekir, see the old city walls.Overnight stay is at a hotel on the slopes of Mount Nemrut.


Day 4
Mount Nemrut, Erzurum Town, Shepherd's Bridge (Hovvi Kamurj), Kars.
On the top of Mount Nemrut we see the dawn break, the statues of old pagan gods. Then we go to Erzurum, view the Byzantine Citadel of Theodupolis, see the mausoleum of Chifte Minare (a religious school), as well as the edifice of Sanasar College. From Erzurum we head for Sarikamish, making a stop at the confluence of the rivers Araks and Murts, where Shepherd’s Bridge (Hovvi Kamurj) is located. Overnight at a hotel in Kars.


Day 5
Kars, Holy Apostles Church (Arakelots Church), Kars Fortress, Vardan Bridge, House of Yeghishe Charents, Medieval Capital of Armenia – Ani, Yerevan.
Next morning, we head for Kars, to visit the Church of the Holy Apostles, the Fortress of Kars, the Medieval Bridge “Vardana”, the house of Yeghishe Charents, then explore the city streets to feel the spirit of the ancient Armenian city of Kars. We head for Medieval Capital of Armenia, Ani, at 45 km from Kars. Having explored the millennium-old churches. From Ani we go back to Armenia. In the evening we arrive in Yerevan.
